Acer Aspire One - Colours

This is the 10.1 inch model of Acer Aspire One. Going for this model instead of the 8.9 inch model is highly recommended because of the more feature packed version with little price difference and it is about 200Gms more than that 8.9inch Aspire One Model.

Acer calls this the “D” Series. The display size is 10.1 inch and you will get more room for your fingers on the keyboard. The weight of this D Series model is 1.18Kgs for the 3Cell battery configuration and 1.33Kgs for the 6Cell battery. The battery life is almost same like the 8.9, 3 Hrs for the 3Cell battery and 7Hrs for the 6Cell Battery.

Acer Aspire One 8.9 Mini Laptop

This is not a Notebook instead we call this a Netbook. This is a subcompact version of Laptop. The display size here is 8.9inch and it is very easy to carry. Compared with the dell mini laptop, this one is coming with Optical and SSD Drives to choose and with the in built webcam.

Some Acer Aspire One Models comes with SSD (Solid State Drive) instead of usual Hard Disk Drives(HDD). Selecting a SSD will give good improvement on battery life time and starting time on Operating systems and other programs, but this will give you a very limited storage. You will require an External Hard Drive to store large files like your downloaded Movies, etc.,

The regular Hard Drive Models are coming with 2.5″ 5400pm SATA types and the capacities are 120GB or 160GB.

The Weight of this Acer Aspire One Netbooks are 0.99Kgs for the SSD drive Model with 3cell battery and 1.26Kgs for the HDD Models with 6cell battery.

When we look at the Operating System Requirement, these Acer Aspire One Netbooks are coming with two flavour. Windows XP Home and Linux (Linpus Linux Lite). The difference in price between these two operating system selection is just approximately Rs-2000 more for Windows XP Home. But the Linux version is well serve the purpose for normal computer users. (Note: We can install other Linux Distribution without any problem)

Let us look at the RAM, the Memory. The Memory is coming with 512 MB or 1GB. For Linux Models 512GB is good enough. But if you like to install Windows XP Home or in near future the Professional version, better choose the 1GB Model.

The batteries are with 3cell and 6cell type. The Linpus Linux Lite is well optimized by Acer to give you a better battery life of  3 Hours on a 3cell battery and 7Hrs on 6 cell battery.

Finally, if you go to buy an Acer Aspire One for Comfortability and Portability, we recommend to buy one with an SSD Drive and 3Cell battery and The Linus OS will also give you a cost benefit of about Rs-2000 over the Windows XP.
